Freshman Bros Corpus Christi Trip 2017

On a Saturday morning, the freshman guys headed out for their annual Corpus Christi beach trip. We loaded up the trucks and the vans, and spent the journey telling riddles and playing car games.

Our first stop was Hibachi Grill Supreme Buffet, with unlimited seafood, a Mongolian grill line, and more! Needless to say, the freshman ate their fill and were energized for a long afternoon at the beach.

When we arrived at the beach, we wasted no time making sure everyone was dunked in the water, starting with the oldest ones! After that, we split into teams to play football: Houston vs the world! Team 'world' started well, jumping out to a quick 14-7 lead with an explosive offense and a stifling defense. Team 'Houston' fought back and came back to win off of a touchdown run, forced turnover, and a Hail Mary touchdown play!

Then the freshman challenged the staff to our traditional Olympic competition, including events like the 100m dash, the 4x100m relay, the long jump, and the triple jump, with the competition close in each event.

As the sun went down, we settled in for a campfire time, cooking hobo packs and clam chowder over the fire, re-enacting memorable moments from the past year through performances, and singing campfire songs together. Towards the end of the night we had a time to share our life journeys with one another and cast 1 year, 5 year, and 10 year visions for our lives, and we wrapped up the trip with the older bros sharing some wisdom about sophomore year and praying for all the older bros who would be moving out to the East Coast this summer.
