Farewell Texas, On to the East Coast!

Before our team of 10 brothers and sisters set out to plant a church in the East Coast, we had to do a Texas-sized farewell for them!

We started off with a grand potluck and heard testimonies from some of the team members who decided to sacrifice the comforts in Texas for the uncertainties ahead in Maryland. Hearing from how they each entrusted their lives into God’s control, wanting to carry on the vision of the Acts 2 church in other college towns, likewise spurred us on to give our lives for the Gospel. We’re challenged to take steps of faith in obeying God, rise up to the responsibilities left here, and to hold onto John 12:24, our church’s yearly verse – “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.”

Then, many groups of people put on performances, ranging from shocking to bittersweet, to show their love and appreciation for each of the team members, including a duo Hans and Frans with Ranger Nelson and Deputy Bryan act, rapping to Jump Out the Whip by Tedashii, and a Prince of Egypt reenactment.

The time to say goodbye to our brothers and sisters came faster than expected, reminding us that time is short and to cherish each relationship we have now. We were sad to say our final goodbyes; however, we send them off with our prayers and eagerness to hear all that God will do through them in Maryland!
